Part A(part éi)
Put the conversation in order.
Visiting Egypt
a. Julian: Because there were many impatient drivers typically ignoring traffic rules. Most traffic lights in Cairo do not function. Sometimes you could see vehicles travelling the wrong way on one-way streets. Also, Egyptian drivers are not familiar with driving in wet conditions, making such periods particularly hazardous.
b. Antony: Hey, Julian. How was your last vacation?
c. Antony: Did you do the driving over the resting days?
d. Antony: I guess I had to read about a country road safety before I travel, and tear this page out of the book.
e. Julian: No, I didn’t. I had to leave that option out, so I took a bus instead. In fact, it was worse than expected because there was a carjacking in the middle of the day. Also, a car was on fire, and the firefighters came to put it out. Moreover, some perpetrators were stealing cargo from a big truck behind us. The victim knew that if he had posed resistance, he would have been harmed, so he only shut off his engine.
f. Antony: Why do you say it was horrible?
g.
Julian: Egypt
was spectacular, but driving in Cairo was
horrible. My tour driver called my tour off in the
city, so I had to drive by myself since other
drivers weren’t available.
