The gerund always has the same function as a noun.
We will study those verbs that are followed by another verb in “-ing” form. We know this form is called “gerund” and it has the same function as a noun. Some phrasal verbs are also followed by a gerund.

1. Give up - I gave up living in London.
2. Go on - She will go on searching a flat in England.
3. Put off - He put off participating on his last meeting.
4. Keep on - We keep on checking out flats in the city.
