How to Prepare a Speech When You Have Anxiety

Many of us had the misfortune to experience anxiety every time we had to give a speech. In order to have a better performance, we need to focus on the preparation first. One way to quell this feeling is to prepare ourselves to speak in public. In this way, our confidence will be boosted and the message will be delivered successfully.

During the preparation we need to choose a catchy topic. This topic should be interesting and not dull. Try to make a list of some topics you are excited about and don't forget to do some research about them. After you have the topic, become familiar with the venue. A piece of advice is to visit the room, classroom, auditorium, or banquet hall where you will give the speech.

In the case your audience is a difficult one, try to keep calm. The best way you can deal with it is by paying a compliment or finding something that you can agree on. It's better to be prepared for hecklers at all times. Another piece of advice is to anticipate the hard questions and critical moments. Be prepared ahead of time.

It does not matter if you are an expert or if you are comfortable speaking in public. Practice your speech many times as possible. It will give you confidence in your ability to deliver.
