Reduced Infinitives

We can use "to" instead of the full infinitives in replies.

Examples:

a. Haven't you done your homework?
No, I'm just going to.
b. Is she going to hand in her assignment?
No, she doesn't want to.
c. Does he want to present his project?
Yes, he's about to.
d. Did the teacher hand out the worksheets?
Yes, she was happy to.

Just to can be used instead of the whole infinitive
when the meaning is clear from the context.

The verb to be is not usually reduced to "to"

Examples:

a. The cat is a little bit moodier than it used to be.
b. They were not ready as they expected to be.
