To become less noisy, active, or busy..
Example: The students quieten down when they enter the church.

20. Wear down (n): /ˈkwaɪət(ə)n daʊn/ Gastarse
To make someone gradually lose their energy.
Example: The expositor spent 3 hours and that wore us down.
