When you want to recommend something to a person, we use the modal “should” to express our advice or suggestion.
Affirmative form
a. They should study for the exam to pass the
course.
b. He should practice English every day to be more fluent.
Negative form
a. They shouldn’t lose their time because they
need to study.
b. He shouldn’t feel nervous
when he speaks in English.
Note: should not = shouldn’t
Interrogative form
a. Should they study for the exam to pass the
course?
Yes, they should.
b. Should they lose their time?
No, they shouldn’t.
c. Should he practice English every day to be more
fluent?
Yes, he should.
d. Should he feel nervous when he speaks in
English?
No, he shouldn’t.
