Supposed to
Cuando hablamos del verbo Supposed implica que alguien espera que nosotros hagamos alguna actividad. Es utilizado para indicar expectativas sobre obligaciones o responsabilidades.
Tiene dos usos es:
- Como PRESENT SIMPLE (se supone que): I am supposed to go.
- Como PAST SIMPLE (se suponía que): I was supposed to send you an email.
Examples:
- He is supposed to cook.
- We are supposed to bring the wine.
- They are supposed to buy the tickets.
- He was supposed to take his dance lesson at seven o’clock.
- They were supposed to bring the books with them
Allowed to
Proviene del verbo allow que significa permitir. Se usa para decir que tenemos permiso para hacer algo.
Tiene dos usos es:
- Como PRESENT SIMPLE (se le permite): I'm allowed to go to the party.
- Como PAST SIMPLE (se le permitió): She was allowed to come with us.
Examples:
- You are allowed to use one of the USB ports.
- You’re not allowed to sit at the table with us.
- The dog is not allowed to sleep in the room.
